From African traditions comes an exciting program that immerses the audience in rhythm. In African society, music is an indispensable element in social and religious rites. These percussion workshops enable participants of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to experience the pulsating rhythms and instruments of Africa for themselves!

Developed by African slaves at least 400 years ago as a form of self defence disguised as dance, Capoeira has been handed down through generations in urban Brazil. Capoeira is an exciting sport mixing fighting, dancing and music. The emphasis is not on how well you perform, but on how much energy you commit to trying!

The Balinese "Cendrawasih Dance" represents the freedom enjoyed by the beautiful wild birds of the forest while they fly and splash in the water spring. Cendrawasih means 'Bird of Paradise', and the dance depicts the atmosphere surrounding the birds’ courtship display.

Discover the exotic world of Belly dance as Belyssa shimmies her way into your classroom. This colourful, fun and educational show entails live Belly dance and music performances using a variety of traditional instruments, costumes and props. Interactive games and stories are used to teach the children Belly dance moves and rhythms and the significance of music and dance in Middle Eastern culture.
